Happy Cinco De Mayo! Did you celebrate? I celebrated by wearing a mustache and sombrero at work... :)
Ryan and I used to pretty much be known by name at the TGI Friday's where we used to live. It was getting to the point where it was embarrassing to walk in there because they knew us so well. But they had such good happy hour deals and we couldn't pass up their Tuesday burger nights! We always ordered the Jack Daniel's burger and it never got old. Now we don't frequent TGI Friday's as much, but I still crave Jack Daniel's burgers...so I decided to make a replica! I'm craving one just thinking about it. The burger is just a burger, but the Jack Daniel's sauce is really what makes it. I made these a few nights ago and they were delicious!
Jack Daniel's Sauce
Ingredients:
1/3 cup diced red onions
1/2 teaspoon finely-diced garlic
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup teriyaki sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup white grape juice
1/2 cup Jack Daniel's black label whiskey (I actually cheated and bought a cheaper whiskey - still tasted good!)
1/2 teaspoon Tobasco sauce
Cooking Directions:
Place ingredients in sauce pan in order listed. Mix and stir after each ingredient.
Place on medium heat and stir until mixture reaches boiling stage.
Turn temperature down to low until mixture is on a slow simmer.
Cook sauce for 35 to 45 minutes and remove from heat.
Mixture will have reduced in volume about a 1/4 to 1/3. **Mine was still a little thin so I added about a teaspoon of corn starch to thicken the sauce.
Add the sauce to any grilled burger and add any of your other favorite toppings such as onion, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and jalapeno. This sauce would also be great on grilled chicken.
