in the shop: new items!

I have finally added new items to my etsy shop!  I am excited and nervous about the whole thing.  It is nerve wracking throwing yourself out there and wondering if the world will like what you do....like it enough to pay money for it.  It's a bold move...and one that I have avoided for a long time.  I hope you know that I do not actually expect any one to buy the things I make....seriously.  I would be shocked.  So you may be wondering...why in the world are you even posting these things?  Well...that's a good question.  One that I am asking myself right now.  In fact, I'm instantly regretting that I even posted them.  But alas, there they are...sitting upon their virtual shelves in the virtual crafty store that is etsy.

There are so many talented craftsters out there...I feel like I don't even deserve to post on the same site as them.  But I guess that is what makes the world of arts and crafts so great - you don't have to be perfect, or even all that unique...you just have to make it.

My sister said to me recently, "I'm convinced that there is nothing new under the sun."  Basically saying that there are so many creative ideas out there, but most of them have already been done or thought of in one way, shape, or form.  When she said that, I couldn't help but think of the verse in Ecclesiastes that says, "I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind."  It may sound depressing - and if you think too hard about it, I guess it is a bit depressing.  Nonetheless, it really is true.

Even though every piece of art, craft project, food recipe, etc. may be unique in some way, it is usually a representation of something that already exists.  Pinterest is a site where people gather their ideas and things they love all in one place.  People find inspiration from other people...and that is a good thing...but it just goes to show that it is hard to think of a brand new idea all on your own without any help.  God bless those who are true innovators! But my point is - it is rare to find something out there that hasn't been done before - and I want to make it clear that I am by no means claiming to be a creative genius by selling things on etsy!  I am simply putting myself out there - seeing if there is a possibility...although slim...that someone is looking for the very thing that I have made.  And if that's you....then it was maede.for.you.

Here are a few of my first items....more to come!

  1. We have been waiting a long time for this! We've been watching for the most UNworthy causes to give to. The way you've described these items seem like the most unworthy ever. Thanks for sharing them with us. The check's in the mail!
