new year...

Christmas has come and gone and the new year is fast approaching.  Over the weekend I felt so blessed by family and friends.  So many people dread the holidays, and I've talked to many people this week who experienced an awful weekend...and all because they lacked something in their life - love.  They didn't have a bad holiday because they didn't get the coolest new toy or electronic device....they had a bad weekend because they were lonely...they didn't have family to see...they had fights with the family they did see...or their family was broken a part - they lacked love.  I am so grateful that love was not lacking from my holiday weekend, but my heart goes out to those that did not experience the same love that I did.

A couple highlights from the weekend included my sister Leah's baby gender reveal!  I know most of you probably already saw the video I posted on facebook...but just in case you want to watch again, you can find out what she's having here.

My dad is also retiring as of December 30, 2011!  He has put in over 30 years of working for the city, and he has always been such a well-respected, hard working man.  I admire and love him so much.  He has dedicated his life to caring for and providing for his family - and I can't thank him enough for all he has done!  In honor of his retirement, I made him this video.  Congratulations on your retirement Dad! :)

I hope you all had a safe and happy holiday - and have a very happy new year!
